The wise owl and owl hen represent the king and queen of the army. Figurines of Camel, Horse, Elephant, and Owlet represent the Bishop, Knight, Rooks, and Pawn respectively.
The hand-carved work on all the pieces is simply extraordinary, bringing to life all the pieces on the chessboard. This design is sure to please any enthusiastic chess connoisseur or makes for a fantastic gift for a chess lover.
The distressed antiquing on the pieces is quite stunning which gives the appearance of patina on vintage chessmen which have been worn out over decades of use.
