As research suggests, B & Co was a lesser known British company, selling chess pieces in later half of the 19th century.

Design profile of all the pieces confirm to the Staunton pattern initiated by Jacques of London in 1849.

Very sleek and long shanks of King, queen, bishop and pawns make for an interesting design profile. Knights have a fierce look and appear ready for battle. All the pieces have narrow but wide bases. The set has been traditionally weighted using lead infused at the base of the chessmen.

The pieces have been Antiqued to give the effect of patina on vintage chessmen and will take the proud owners back in time to 19th century. Genuine Ebony Wood & Antiqued Boxwood has been used to manufacture these pieces.

These Chessmen are a perfect amalgamation of form and function and their elegant aesthetics are in no way compromised by their practical utility.

They will find great favour with chess players, collectors and hobbyist for their distinctive looks, for the heft and solidity of their feel, for their stability which comes from their wide and weighted bases, and from the felt-lined bottoms of their bases, which create an illusion that they are floating on the Chessboard.
