1972 Championship Fischer Spassky Chess Set - Chess Pieces Only - Double Weighted Ebony wood

The chessmen are made from ebony and boxwood. They are perfectly crafted with each piece having consistent for for each colour. The ebony pieces are fully black with no brown streaks. Size and weight are ideal. The knights look fantastic being hand carved with beautiful detail and precision in the small detailed carvings around mount and eyes. The knights look large next to the bishop. All pieces are felted at the bottom. They arrived in perfect condition via international shipping. Overall this is a showpiece set of chessmen. I wanted a family heirloom and I have one.

After purchasing this chess set online, I felt like I might have a bit of buyer's remorse. I could not have been more wrong. - it is stunning with beautifully made, well-weighted pieces. The pieces were all individually wrapped and protected and postage was a breeze (arrived in Australia about a week or so after order). Communication with the seller regarding an appropriate board size was quick and easy, and I am now waiting for its arrival, after which I'll post a complete review. So far, so good (great!). A week or so later: The board has arrived and is just as good as the set - highly recommended!
