Beautiful set; Queen is just a little undersized
Having looked at various sets, I fell in love with the stunning tiger-striped rosewood pieces pictured. The pieces received, understandably due to natural wood variation, show more subtle grain. The chess pieces are superbly crafted, of excellent weight, scale, and feel, and are perfectly sized and a stunning compliment for my handmade chessboard. Many thanks to the Royal Chess Mall owner, shipping, and craftspersons for their impressive attention to detail and customer service!
Very nice size. Little bigger than standard Staunton 3x-weighted plastic tourney sets. Smaller than 4x-weighted pieces. The weight seems standard for 3x-weighted pieces.
The knights are more sculpted, like an actual horse (more dimension around mane, lower neck, and head). Wood tones are as pictured. Nice reddish-brown color. Bright enough to pop in contrast to a brown or black wood board. Dark enough to give contrast on a red board. We are very pleased with this set.
The 23″ bag fits the board perfectly and feels well-padded and sturdy. The zippers are smooth, the handles are strong, and it makes carrying a premium board safe and easy. Very practical for storage and transport.

The carving on the knights is impressive, and the pieces have a nice, steady weight. Everything feels solid and well-made on the board, with the knights especially standing out and feeling premium in hand.
High quality chess set. Looks great when kept outside in my balcony. The knight design is especially nice.
Using this chess set from few weeks now. Mostly evening time, sometimes at home, sometimes in nearby park with friends. Board is solid, once you keep it on bench or table, it doesn’t move much.
Pieces are nicely balanced and don’t fall easily, even when playing outside. After game, all pieces go back inside the drawers, so no tension of losing anything. I’m using it normally, not handling very carefully, still it’s in good condition. Feels like a chess set made for playing, not just for show.
