Sleek Staunton chessmen are an elegant variant for the ever popular staunton chessmen. While conforming to the traditional staunton pattern design philosophy, this design has wider bases with narrower shanks giving them a distinct elegant appearance. The knight is handsomely crafted with a sharp , distinct face and expertly crafted features.
It makes for an excellent gift for a chess lover or anyone interested in adding a variant of staunton chessmen to their collection. No wonder it is one of the most popular designs in our collection.
The set has been triple weighted to enhance stability and balance during speed play.

I noticed that I was missing a "straight" Staunton-style chess set in my favourite wood for black, padauk (= "bud rosewood") and found these elegantly shaped 4" pieces from RCM. I love the slim, elongated shapes of the kings and queens with their broad bases and the expressive knights. The chessmen are nicely weighted (for black: King=70g, Queen=77g, Knight=66g, Rook=66g) and won't tip over even in blitz games. Very nice craftsmanship. Quick, super-safe shipping. Two very minor issues were resolved quickly and without fuss. This isn't my first set from RCM (I own their Mogul Staunton, 1972 Fischer Ebony 3.75", Edinburgh Northern Upright sets, and now this and the 3.9" Zagreb Russian style sets - all lovely) - and it certainly won't be my last.
High quality, beautiful chess set at a fair price. Thanks!
