Using this chess set from few weeks now. Mostly evening time, sometimes at home, sometimes in nearby park with friends. Board is solid, once you keep it on bench or table, it doesn’t move much.
Pieces are nicely balanced and don’t fall easily, even when playing outside. After game, all pieces go back inside the drawers, so no tension of losing anything. I’m using it normally, not handling very carefully, still it’s in good condition. Feels like a chess set made for playing, not just for show.
I bought this backgammon set as a gift for my elder brother. When it arrived, his daughter got curious and kind of claimed it for herself. Whenever I visit my brother’s place, I usually find her sitting and playing with it. She’s learning the game slowly, and it’s actually nice to see how naturally it became part of their home. The quality feels premium the moment you open it. Even when I take it with me to play with friends, everyone notices how solid and well-finished it is. I didn’t think twice before buying this from Royal Chess Mall. It’s clearly made for adults, but fun enough that even kids around get drawn to it.
This set is price-wise at the lower end but feels completely premium—chess now feels like a whole new game. It has a unique design, it stands out and yet you can clearly identify the pieces while at play. The squat shape makes it extra-stable and because of this, it can fit perfectly in 17 to 21 inch boards. Overall, one of the best choices here.

This set in particular, is my favourite to play with. Generously weighted, well balanced and very streamlined. The Kings stand tall and proud. Queens are robust and feel powerful. The Bishops are sleek yet sneaky. The Knights are well detailed, and really fit in the fingers perfectly and of course the rooks are stalky, they pack a punch when attacking. Each piece is designed perfectly and feels like each piece compliments each other. What a joy to move them around. Generously sized bases, wonderful detail, “chunky” would best describe them yet effortless to manoeuvre. I will say that they are even more spectacular in person then in photos. Retired and new to Chess, just learning now I have time.
After much research, I found that a Staunton set is the most common design, so I purchased a weighted plastic set, nice enough to learn on.
Then as I got more interested, started to desire a nice Wooden set, again after research settled on Royal Chess Mall.
They have a great range of handmade pieces that look amazing, however I was drawn to this 3.6” Pro Staunton weighted golden rosewood set of pieces. Ordering was straight forward, comms great, tracking details great, and the pieces arrived on the day as per tracking update, ordered and delivered in 11 days to Australia.
Simply beautiful, amazing detail, feel so nice, I am very happy, thank you to the craftspeople who made them.

The pieces are all solid hardwood weighted internally so a stiff breeze won't blow them over. They arrived all the way from India in about five days via super fast Fedex shipping. All pieces are intricately carved to the smallest detail. Well worth the price!
